Invention is not enough. Tesla invented the electric power we use, but he struggled to get it out to people. You have to combine both things: invention and innovation focus, plus the company that can commercialize things and get them to people.

To turn really interesting ideas and fledgling technologies into a company that can continue to innovate for years, it requires a lot of disciplines.

If you don't give people a chance to fail... you won't innovate... if you wanna be an innovative company allow people to make mistakes.

A company is a group organized to create a product or service, and it is only as good as its people and how excited they are about creating. I do want to recognize a ton of super-talented people. I just happen to be the face of the companies.

How exciting is it to come to work if the best you can do is trounce some other company that does roughly the same thing?

We understand the need to balance our short- and longer-term needs because our revenue is the engine that funds all our innovation.
