I can be more presidential than president.

We need somebody that literally will take this country and make it great again. We can do that.

Every 4 years, we gather on these steps to carry out the orderly and peaceful transfer of power, and we are grateful to President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for their gracious aid throughout this transition. They have been magnificent. Thank you.

We are one Nation, and their pain is our pain, their dreams are our dreams, and their success will be our success. We share one heart, one home, and one glorious destiny. The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans.

We will measure our success not only by the battles we win, but also by the wars that we end, and perhaps most importantly, the wars we never get into. My proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker and unifier. That's what I want to be. A peacemaker and a unifier.

Over the past six weeks, I have signed nearly 100 executive orders and taken more than 400 executive actions - a record - to restore common sense, safety, optimism and wealth all across our wonderful land. The people elected me to do the job, and I'm doing it.
