This is the first lesson to learn: be determined not to curse anything outside, not to lay the blame upon anyone outside, but stand up, lay the blame on yourself. You will find that is always true. Get hold of yourself.

Blaming the wolf would not help the sheep much. The sheep must learn not to fall in the clutches of the wolf.

We are responsible for what we are, and whatever we wish ourselves to be, we have the power to make ourselves. If what we are now has been the result of our own past actions, it certainly follows that whatever we wish to be in the future can be produced by our present actions; so we have to know how to act.

We, we, and none else, are responsible for what we suffer. We are the effects, and we are the causes.

This misery that I am suffering is of my own doing, and that very thing proves that it will have to be undone by me alone.
