I think you should always bear in mind that entropy is not on your side.

Starting and growing a business is as much about the innovation, drive, and determination of the people behind it as the product they sell.

People often mistake technology for a static picture. It's less like a picture and more like a movie. It's the velocity of technology innovation that matters. It's the acceleration.

If you punish people too much for failure, then they will respond accordingly and the innovation you will get will be very incrementalist. Nobody's going to try anything bold for fear of getting fired or punished in some way. The risk/reward must be balanced, in favor of making bold moves.

If you think back to the beginning of cell phones, laptops or really any new technology, it's always expensive.

I tend to approach things from a physics framework. And physics teaches you to reason from first principles rather than by analogy.
