The non-violent Negro is seeking to create the beloved community. He directs his attack on the forces of evil rather than on individuals.

I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.

But why is God so slow in conquering the forces of evil? Why does not God break in and smash the evil schemes of wicked men?...We are responsible human beings, not blind automatons; persons, not puppets.
