When you are behind bars with no hope of release, you need to find strength wherever you can. Personally, I found strength in Michael Jackson.

Hope, in its stronger forms, is a great deal more powerful stimulans to life than any sort of realized joy can ever be.

Even when I was in the orphanage, when I was roaming the street trying to find enough to eat, even then I thought of myself as the greatest actor in the world. I had to feel the exuberance that comes from utter confidence in yourself. Without it, you go down to defeat.

I always entertain great hopes.

It is my great hope that, as we struggle for racial justice, we will follow that philosophy and method of non-violent resistance, realizing that this is the approach that can bring about that better day of racial justice for everyone.
