Man must be sustained in suffering by a hope so high that no conflict with actuality can dash it-so high, indeed, that no fulfilment can satisfy it: a hope reaching out beyond this world.

That background helped me a lot, because it taught me to fend for myself from a very early age, and to be responsible. It was an upheaval of an upbringing, which seems to have worked, I guess.

Everybody's at war with different things...I'm at war with my own heart sometimes.

While on one hand, terrorism continues to be a serious threat to global peace and security, on the other hand, cyber, maritime and space are emerging as new theatres of conflict. On all these issues, I will stress that global action must match global ambition.

We shall have to take the responsibility for world collaboration, or we shall have to bear the responsibility for another world conflict.

No one can understand my conflict who has not looked into the eyes of those he loves, knowing that he has no alternative but to take a dangerous stand that leaves them tormented.
