These critics with the illusions they've created about artists - it's like idol worship. They only like people when they're on their way up... I cannot be on the way up again.

It is the same with those who criticize. They desire our blood not our pain. But still I must achieve I must seek truth in all things. I must endure for the power I was sent forth, for the world for the children. But have mercy, for I've been bleeding a long time now.

The only way to deal with critics is to go over their heads direct to the public.

Nothing anybody's said or written about me ever bothers me, except when it does.

You can call me a fat, balding, talentless old queen who can't sing, but you can't tell lies about me.

I'm not everybody's cup of tea. But sometimes criticism can be hurtful. Be respectful I'm a good piano player, I can sing well, I write good songs. If you don't like it, fair enough. But give me a break.
