I don't carry the burden of the past or the madness of the future. I live in the present.

Yoga is a vision for a harmonious future for humanity. It is an "stage" i.e. a state of mind not "system".

I try not to look back. I'm looking forward. I'm worried more about what I'm going to do next week than I am what I did last week. There are too many things to do. Looking back is for everybody else.

There must be what Mr. Gladstone many years ago called a blessed act of oblivion. We must all turn our backs upon the horrors of the past. We must look to the future. We cannot afford to drag forward across the years that are to come the hatreds and revenges which have sprung from the injuries of the past.

We are asking the nations of Europe between whom rivers of blood have flowed, to forget the feuds of a thousand years and work for the larger harmonies on which the future depends.

Our future is in our hands. Our lives are what we choose to make them.
