Incidentally, US politicians, political scientists and journalists write and say that a veritable "empire of lies" has been created inside the United States in recent years. It is hard to disagree with this - it is really so. But one should not be modest about it: the United States is still a great country and a system-forming power.

Some indeed still hold to the now somewhat obvious delusion that we of the United States can safely permit the United States to become a lone island.

I am not talking about conventions, I am not thinking of such things. I am thinking merely of where does a great party like the Republican Party, what direction does it have to take, if it is going to be a useful agency for America.
