It is never my custom to use words lightly. If twenty-seven years in prison have done anything to us, it was to use the silence of solitude to make us understand how precious words are and how real speech is in its impact on the way people live and die.

At the heart of silence is prayer. At the heart of prayer is faith. At the heart of faith is life. At the heart of life is service.

Never rush an emotion; everything in life has a rhythm, it is the pauses and silences that speak the truth.

The trees, the flowers, the plants grow in silence. The stars, the sun, the moon move in silence. Silence gives us a new perspective.

Silence becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out the whole truth and acting accordingly.

Life is fraught with opportunities to keep your mouth shut.
