Just as a doctor will occasionally reopen a wound, because a dangerous infection hovers beneath the half-healed surface, the revolution for human rights is opening up unhealthy areas in American life and permitting a new and wholesome healing to take place.

There is scarcely anything more tragic in human life than a child who is not wanted. That which should be a blessing becomes a curse for parent and child.

Not the stars, not the farthest solar systems, not the millions of different species of animal life, but the child is the greatest of God's creations.

Few things make the life of a parent more rewarding and sweet as successful children.

Together as a nation, we have the obligation to put sunshine into the hearts of our little ones. They are our precious possessions. They deserve what happiness life can offer.

It is my greatest wish that the Children's Fund should continue to be a beacon of hope and light.
