The times of the Birth and Passion of Christ, with such like niceties, being not material to religion, were little regarded by the Christians of the first age. They who began first to celebrate them, placed them in the cardinal periods of the year.

None of us can slow the passage of time and, while we often focus on all that has changed in the intervening years, much remains unchanged, including the Gospel of Christ and his teachings.

Christ alone has succeeded in so raising the mind of man toward the unseen, that it becomes insensible to the barriers of time and space.

The Christian churches and Christianity have nothing in common save in name: they are utterly hostile opposites. The churches are arrogance, violence, usurpation, rigidity, death; Christianity is humility, penitence, submissiveness, progress, life.

If Christ were here now there is one thing he would not be - a Christian.

If all Christians acted like Christ, the whole world would be Christian.
