You don't expect music to be brilliant when the films are so bad.

In the early days I used to rely on a personal system of notations where the letters on high notes kept rising above the line. But that really called for extra long sheets. But you don't need notations in Indian music really. You need them when you're using harmony.

Music has always carried me through times of loneliness. So when I make music, I like it to make people who listen to it feel like they have a friend who reveals something personal to them, rather than trying to be like a god up on a pedestal.

Whatever your standing in life, the most important thing is behaving in ways that help other people. It's the same with music. I am a servant of the music ... and if I get caught up in ego, I'll lose everything .. it'll burn and that's a guarantee.

We are at a crossroads in the music business: with the rise of the internet, the world we live in has changed, and the past is not coming back. But I see the glass as half-full: the internet and social networking are new avenues for the next Bob Dylan to be born on.

For me there is something primitively soothing about this music, and it went straight to my nervous system, making me feel ten feet tall.
