I believe all suffering is caused by ignorance. People inflict pain on others in the selfish pursuit of their happiness or satisfaction. Yet true happiness comes from a sense of inner peace and contentment, which in turn must be achieved through the cultivation of altruism, of love and compassion and elimination of ignorance, selfishness and greed.

Peace does not mean an absence of conflicts. Differences will always be there. Peace means solving these differences through peaceful means - through dialogue, education, knowledge, and humane ways.

One of the basic points is kindness. With kindness, with love and compassion, with a feeling that is the essence of brotherhood and sisterhood, one will have inner peace. This compassionate feeling is the basis of inner peace.

Education is the proper way to promote compassion and tolerance in society. Compassion and peace of mind bring a sense of confidence that reduce stress and anxiety, whereas anger and hatred come from frustration and undermine our sense of trust. Because of ignorance, many of our problems are our own creation. Education, however, is the instrument that increases our ability to employ our own intelligence.

Education breeds confidence. Confidence breeds hope. Hope breeds peace.

We must restore hope to young people, help the old, be open to the future, spread love. Be poor among the poor. We need to include the excluded and preach peace.
