I am increasingly convinced that the time has come to find a way of thinking about spirituality and ethics beyond religion altogether.

A people and their religion must be judged by social standards based on social ethics. No other standard would have any meaning if religion is held to be necessary good for the well-being of the people.

We must regain the conviction that we need one another, that we have a shared responsibility for others and the world, and that being good and decent are worth it. We have had enough of immorality and the mockery of ethics, goodness, faith and honesty. It is time to acknowledge that light-hearted superficiality has done us no good.

In Christianity neither morality nor religion come into contact with reality at any point.

I think if you look at people, whether in business or government, who haven't had any moral compass, who've just changed to say whatever they thought the popular thing was, in the end they're losers.

The preponderance of pain over pleasure is the cause of our fictitious morality and religion.
