To use the same words is not a sufficient guarantee of understanding; one must use the same words for the same genus of inward experience; ultimately one must have one's experiences in common.

Peace does not mean an absence of conflicts. Differences will always be there. Peace means solving these differences through peaceful means - through dialogue, education, knowledge, and humane ways.

Our country frequently seems more divided than ever on how to approach everything from climate change to the economy. I think the path to understanding begins with honest, open conversations.

Words spoken cannot be recalled so think twice before you speak.

We can gain no lasting peace if we approach it with suspicion and mistrust or with fear. We can gain it only if we proceed with the understanding, the confidence, and the courage which flow from conviction.

The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding.
