In my opinion, it is only when Hindu society becomes a casteless society that it can hope to have strength enough to defend itself. Without suchinternal strength, swaraj for Hindus may turn out to be only a step towards slavery.

Religion and slavery are incompatible.

I think that if anything can be proved by natural theology, it is that slavery is morally wrong.

Christianity destroyed for us the whole harvest of ancient civilization, and later it also destroyed for us the whole harvest of Mohammedan civilization. The wonderful culture of the Moors in Spain, which was fundamentally nearer to us and appealed more to our senses and tastes than that of Rome and Greece, was trampled down.

We count ourselves among conquerors; we think about the necessity for new orders, also for a new slavery - for every strengthening and enhancement of the human type also involves a new kind of enslavement.
