We declare war against socialism, not because it is socialism, but because it has opposed nationalism.... We intend to be an active minority, attract the proletariat away from the official Socialist party. But if the middle class thinks that we are going to be their lightning rods, they are mistaken.

Under socialism all will govern in turn and will soon become accustomed to no one governing.

It is not our immediate task to "introduce" socialism, but only to bring social production and the distribution of products at once under the control of the Soviets of Workers' Deputies.

Call it democracy, or call it democratic socialism, but there must be a better distribution of wealth within this country for all God's children.

Everybody is on welfare in this country. The problem is that we all to often have socialism for the rich and rugged free enterprise capitalism for the poor.

Democracy and socialism are means to an end, not the end itself.
